Gifford is a world leading consultancy of engineers and specialist advisers.
The Brief
Gifford approached Liquid Light with an interesting challenge – to make a subtle improvement to their existing site without making too much of a change. They were happy with their existing site, yet wanted to make it work for them by being more of a tool than simply a collection of information. The site needed to allow users to explore what Gifford do in a tactile way, incorporating a cross-link between sectors and skills. Being leaders in what they do, they wanted the site to present the quality of their service and approach to attract like-minded aspirational professionals with a desire to join the team at Gifford.
The Challenge
One of the challenges in the project lay in presenting the breadth of Gifford’s strengths and the depth of their size, whilst maintaining the boutique, family feel of the organisation and not making them appear to be a big corporate entity.
Working with a diverse set of engineers, all with their own keen design ideas, created an interesting challenge in finding a consensus in which everyone was happy. Their attention to detail was challenging, yet at the same time rewarding when the team at Liquid Light were able to deliver something that they were all happy with.
The Result
The result is exactly what Gifford were looking for, which is a victory in itself. They now have an improved site, whilst retaining its simplicity, with a fresher design that presents the vast array of projects in a sexy, dynamic way. Users can access more information about projects including a new research area and a news repository. The research area acts as a useful tool to help attract the real talent that want to join Gifford when they continually access the site to view the valuable information that Gifford have published.
The site is powered by an intelligent content management system, Typo3, which enables Gifford to manage their own content in a simple and user friendly way. This now enables the marketing and communications department within Gifford to have total control of their site.
