Land Securities Retail
Land Securities Retail is the UK’s largest Retail Estate Investment Trust with a commercial property portfolio worth over £14 billion.
The Brief
Land Securities Retail (LS Retail) is the rebrand of what was formerly known as Talk Direct. Liquid Light designed the Talk Direct website and had once again been commissioned to now conduct a rebrand and reskin of the existing site. The brief was to enhance the site, redeveloping their online portfolio and creating a proximity between the retailers and themselves. They wanted to create more of a public face for LS Retail using a hand drawn and architectural feel, making it more approachable to retailers.
The Challenge
Due to the nature of the small niche target market set that LS Retail operate in, it was necessary to present information on the site in a way that is quick and easy for users to access. Liquid Light also had to be mindful of giving out enough information that would be useful to individuals, yet at the same time not alienate agents.
The designers at Liquid Light were set the challenge of creating a tactile approach through their design to transform what was known as a big corporate brand into an open and accessible organisation. The hand drawn elements required the application of a highly skilled illustrator to get this approach to work in the site, making it still practical and usable online.
The Result
The result is a light, sketchy, friendly site with personality and an open design, yet at the same time very firmly part of the Land Securities powerful brand. The site has a hand crafted, tailored feel. It provides an effective tool for getting information out quickly and effortlessly. Information can be approached from many different angles and a wide range of options are available to the user including up-to-date dynamic floor plans, retailer locations, regional information as well as richer demographic information about the area. The interactive maps help to personalise the site and overall the redefined site has better Search Engine Optimisation.
For Liquid Light it was an exciting project being able to take an old site, which at the time was cutting edge, and then reinvent and redefine the persona of it.
