Spannerworks - Case study
Spannerworks is one of Europe’s most successful natural search agencies with numerous industry awards to its name.
With the recent acquisition by iCrossing, Spannerworks has ambitious plans to extend its offering and expand its European markets.
The Brief
In light of the acquisition, Liquid Light was asked to help Spannerworks rebrand, bringing them inline with their new parent iCrossing and preparing them for the new challenges ahead.
The brief was to redevelop the Spannerworks website, ensuring that they integrated fully with the iCrossing brand whilst retaining a distinct Spannerworks personality.

The Challenge
The key challenge in this project was to redevelop the Spannerworks website to a tight deadline to meet the official acquisition announcement, and ensuring the transition from the old site to the new was a smooth and seamless process.
Part of the redesign of Spannerworks.com was to re-skin the existing Typo3 powered website, ensuring the large-scale content updates were easily managed during this period of change.
The Result
The site was launched on time and with the new design aligning Spannerworks’ with iCrossing, whilst retaining its own unique character.
The content management system is powered by the open source content management system Typo3, which provides a powerful set of content publishing capabilities to Spannerworks staff. This meant that the site could have the new design applied to the original site, rather than having to re-build the entire site, ensuring a fast turn around.
Additional blog functionality and news feeds were integrated into the site helping to generate valuable site traffic and helping to improve search engine ranking.
