Science Photo Library (SPL) is the world's leading provider of science photos covering all aspects of science, health & medicine, space exploration & astronomy, technology & industry, earth science, satellite imagery, and nature & wildlife.
The Brief
Liquid Light was asked to plan, design and develop SPL online, helping to re-brand and reposition SPL with the view to captivating a more design-orientated audience.

The Challenge
To redesign the SPL website, so that it had greater appeal to the target graphic design audience, without alienating the existing publishing-based clients. The additional challenge was to make the website simple and intuitive to use for non-technical users and the large international audience group, whilst also ensuring that the site was efficient and productive for power users who use the site day-in and day-out.
The Result
A unique, highly designed website that has provided SPL with the ability to generate new revenue via the sale of the images online and the number of images online has also increased from 3,000 to 100,000 The end-user benefits from a highly useable website that offers a substantial number of images to search through for their chosen scientific topic.
