The Gym Group are the UK's premier budget gym brand. Founded in 2008 with gyms all over the UK, The Gym Group are an exciting, fast growing and innovative brand in the budget gym sector. They have received flattering and well deserved accolades from their peers, the press, and most importantly, their members. The Gym Group have long-term plans for expansion and continued innovation to ensure that they lead the UK’s budget Gym growth.
Liquid Light won the competitive tender to work with Caburn Hope (The Gym Group's marketing services agency to help plan, design and build the new Gym Group website.The website needed to set The Gym Group apart from the pack in the very competitive and fast moving budget gym sector. It also needed to compliment the existing brands' strength and develop it in an exciting new direction.
Brand differentiation was critical to put The Gym Group ahead of the game. A lot of information needed to be displayed in a clear and concise way and due to a very diverse customer base we needed a website that would speak to everyone and be inclusive to all, regardless of age, gender or culture.
Liquid Light extensively researched the competitor landscape, developing a sound strategy that utilised extensive wire framing and experimental design processes to ensure we hit the mark. The Gym Group needed the website to be as easy to use as possible on mobile phones, so the site also needed to be fully responsive for all devices, from mobile to desktop. Equally important was the need for a highly flexible CMS to allow different content editors to edit every element of the website - Liquid Light built the site into TYPO3 - an exceptionally powerful and flexible open source CMS.
The existing site had a complex membership account area managed by White Hat Media which needed to be incorporated into the new site in a seamless manner without it being rebuilt. The website's great SEO ranking also needed to be maintained.
A striking and contemporary website that really captures the ethos of The Gym Group and their passion for fitness. It's motivational, friendly and inviting to all users regardless of age, gender or culture. Liquid Light's in house technologies and technical planning was paramount to making all this come together successfully in partnership with Caburn Hope, RalphsMcintosh and White Hat Media. Our powerful “reverse proxy” technology allowed us to incorporate the legacy membership functionality and re-skin it with the new look and feel, giving the user a seamless experience on all platforms.
The site is also fully mobile responsive, allowing its users to interact with The Gym Group site and most importantly, sign up, on the go!
