Renovation Underwriting

When it comes to renovation insurance products Renovation Underwriting are leading the way with innovative products and advice lead service. They were the first Insurer to provide structured CPD sessions for contract works and pride themselves on the relationships they build with brokers, which allow for better advice and the correct product to be offered to customers.

The Brief

Renovation Underwriting approached us to design and build their new website as they transitioned from a brokerage into an Insurer. The project needed to be finished for an event so the schedule would be tight. The website needed to promote the companies products whilst also providing resources to their partners.

Renovation Underwriting’s products are some of the most comprehensive and bespoke within the industry so the website would need to communicate this premium offering throughout its design whilst also acting as a content rich resource centre for its users.

The Challenge

With limited time until the Renovation Underwriting launch event our structured process allowed us to plan a realistic timeframe for the project with built in contingency to allow for unknowns. Key milestones were planned in advance and provided stakeholders with a clear expectation of when certain deliverables would be required. We are experienced in working to deadlines and this project really highlighted the efficiency of our processes.

The site needed to strike a balance between marketing the services offered and also acting as a resource for brokers working with Renovation Underwriting. Too much content and it would lose its marketing impact but not enough content and it would fail to deliver as a useful tool for brokers looking for industry insight. We opted to create login areas for brokers working with the company which opens up a vast array of documentation and industry guides. This approach keep the public facing website clear of excessive detail, only providing the key information a prospect would want to know. A news and documents area still allows for industry and company information to be shared publicly without distracting from the products section.

We also undertook a lightweight brand process as part of the project. Whilst Renovation Insurance Brokers had an identity of its own Renovation Underwriting wanted to establish a new identity that was different but still familiar. We combined the branding process with our early design exploration allowing us to experiment with different logo marks at the same time as defining the website look and feel. The website now acts as an anchor for the new brand and future documents and collateral can be designed to be in-keeping with the overall feel of the website.

The Result

The finished website has a modern and premium feel using white space to draw the eye and striking black and white imagery to further convey the feeling of an exclusive and quality product. Built using the TYPO3 content management system the website is ready to expand as Renovation Underwriting grow their product offering. The CMS is also easy to use and staff can upload news, documents and resources when needed and update content with minimal effort.

The product pages follow a similar layout for each product allowing visitors to become familiar with the layout quickly and browse to the content they want without issue. Product pages also link directly to relevant documents to further improve the browsing experience.

As with all Liquid Light projects performance was a priority. The Renovation Underwriting website scores 99/100 on Google Page Speed Insights, is fully accessible and built with SEO best practices taken into consideration.
